Infinite Possibilities is an ongoing journey to shape the London Public Library’s creative spaces.
Creative Spaces are active, hands-on spaces for learning by doing.
They can be high-tech 3D printing, digital media labs and robotics programming or low-tech sewing machine centres and silk-screening nooks.
They are all about you and providing access to resources for community collaboration, lifelong learning and creative endeavour.
A Message From Our Chair
“In my many years as a member of the London Public Library Board, and, now, as its Chair, I get to hear about the incredible reach that our Library has into the community and our neighbourhoods. I hear about millions of visits to our libraries, millions of items borrowed, tens of thousands of Londoners attending our programs….statistics that would be staggering to most organizations. But, to our Library, the focus has never been on statistics. Their mission has always been to nurture our community’s unexplored potential: the potential that lies in each visit made, in each resource shared and in each partnership supported.
As Richard Reyes-Gavilan, the new Executive Director of the D.C. Public Library system, expresses so powerfully: Libraries are not their buildings, but engines of human capital. Engines of human capital. Your Library. I want you imagine a city in which creativity flourishes, ideas have a home and each and every citizen is meaningfully supported in learning, sharing knowledge and creating. We can achieve this vision! Our Library is designing new spaces to support community creativity and collaboration.
We need your ideas and your partnerships and we need your financial support. Our goal? We have already secured 3.5 million dollars to help us create these new spaces. Over the next year, we are calling on our community to help us raise just 1 million more. I know that we can do this. I am working with a team of passionate community leaders who are fueled by the knowledge that Londoners care deeply about our Library and want to contribute to our shared future. We can’t wait to talk to you about how you can help. We can’t wait to work together to create a future that is full of infinite possibilities. For each of us. And for our City.”
